Clarion Hotel® Helsinki

I was impressed by the pictures of this hotel online and how it looked before booking. I had high hopes, all came to none. If ever the phrase 'Don't judge the book by the cover rang true, it was this place! The check in guy was welcoming so my hopes were dashed when I said the the rooms that was like cubicle- you can barely move, it was tiny!. Nothing works. The soap & cream dispensers were cheap and did not work. The so called SKY pool and Sauna, were a mere joke. The pool was tiny packed to the rim with kids and families who had squeezed into what seemed like a pond. The sauna was chaotic, shower rooms small with only few lockers half of which did not work. Service is motel class too. When I said I could not use the pool because it was so packed, I needed 12.30 check out, I was told quite rudely that 20 eur per hr after midday. Pool closes at 11 am as does the sauna. This is more like a lower standard scandic or travel inn, or a motel. Save your money , book the Radisson across the water, or better still Hilton for the same money, but for a proper stay, not this joke- I felt conned, and deceived, the breakfast food was not fresh either. Veg and fruits were so old and tasteless. I did not get what I paid for at all- This was my first and it will be last in this place, whatever it was.

Stayed here a few times now and it’s ideal as a business-y close-to-town-but-still-quiet hotel. Sea views are great but the view of the city is better. Lots of choice at breakfast (although less choice in the evenings - go to Mount Kailash across the road instead!) and professional service. Rooms are small but good enough as a base with space downstairs to work if necessary. Small gym was fine, outdoor rooftop pool was bracing but fun and sauna was great with views across the newer part of the city. Looking forward to going back soon

Nice, clean and quite new hotel. The location is good, a short ride by tram or you can also walk from city center. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The service is friendly and the breakfast was good. In public areas there are furniture designed by Alvar Aalto and nice music. The bathroom products are high quality (Rituals). My room was on 2nd floor but the view was still quite nice. There is also saunas and a pool available free of charge, I did not have time for those but maybe next time.

Average hotel, rooms are nice with comfy pillows. Breakfast is varied. Gym is too small with too many machines so everyone is working out on top of each other. No room service which is a surprise. You can order something from the restaurant but you have to go and pick it up but you can’t get through to anyone on the phone to actually order and there are no menus in the room. Little things that’s would make it a good hotel rather than an average one.

Was very happy with this hotel. Lovely staff and clean room. Room was on the small size but for one night was find. Good size bathroom. The gym is good, the swimming pool fun and sky lounge has a great atmosphere. Would text and stay there again if in Helsinki
